Meet Our Founder: Prisca Lema
Prisca Lema, founder of Iyanna Foundation, turned her challenging past into a mission to empower young girls facing adversity. With a degree in Governance and Development, she is driven by her own journey from hardship to success.

Early Life & Challenges
Born the youngest of four, Prisca’s life changed drastically when she lost both parents at the age of 12. Despite the loss, she found strength in education and determination. Thanks to the support of kind friends, she was able to continue her education and eventually graduate with a degree in Governance and Development from the MS Training Center for Development and Cooperation.
A Journey of Struggles
Facing Adversity
During university, Prisca faced a life-altering challenge when she found out she was pregnant. The news shocked her, as she dealt with family disappointment, rejection from friends, and emotional distress. At times, she even considered suicide. But despite the obstacles, Prisca decided to keep her pregnancy, finish her degree, and push through her challenges. It wasn’t easy, but she graduated in 2020, with her daughter by her side.

Prisca’s resilience led her to finish her education while balancing motherhood. She overcame emotional, physical, and mental challenges, including being in an abusive relationship during and after her pregnancy. Her determination to succeed became a beacon of hope, not just for her, but for others who witnessed her strength.
The Birth of Iyanna Foundation
Inspiration Behind Iyanna Foundation (Motivation & Purpose)
After seeing the struggles of other young girls in similar situations, Prisca knew she had to act. Her personal experience of overcoming rejection and hardship inspired her to create Iyanna Foundation. She realized that many young girls, especially teenage mothers, deserve a second chance to rebuild their lives and dreams. Through this foundation, Prisca is committed to providing education, life skills, and support to empower girls to overcome obstacles and thrive.

Our mission is to provide young girls, particularly those affected by teen pregnancies and neglect, with the resources, education, and emotional support needed to heal, grow, and achieve their potential. We envision a world where every girl can overcome her challenges and build a future of dignity and hope.
